Maria Teresa Galvan(Yadhira Carrillo) or Mayte,is a beautiful young woman who is enganged with Luis Antonio(Sergio Reynoso).Mayte was rasied by her aunt,Girselda.Mayte's mother died giving birth to her and she has never met her father,according to people in her town,her father was a foreign man,Jose,who lied to Mayte's mother,Elouisa,and had left her pregant.Jose promised Elousia to come back but never did but he only left Elousia a pendant that belong to Jose's mother.That is all Maria Teresa has from her father.Mayte works at her Aunt Girselda's restaurant as a waiter.Mayte goes to the fair where she is accompanied by Adolfo Valladolid,Adolfo pours sleep powder in Mayte's drink leaving her dizzy and uncomfortable.Adolfo takes advantage at her status and tries to take her to a motel and rape her when he was stopped by Mardalena(Who later in the series becomes one of Mayte's best friend and she was also one of Adolfo's lovers int he past.)Eventually,Adolfo rapes Maria Teresa later in the series and Mayte thus Mayte is pregant.Luis Antonio was later told by Girselda that Adolfo had been sexually harassed Mayte,Luis Antonio goes off and looks for Adolfo.Luis Antonio beats up Adolfo but Dona Jacienta Valladoild,Adolfo's mother sues Luis Antonio.Jacienta pays a few of her workers to beat up Luis Antonio in prison.Adolfo was suppose to get married to Manola Linares (Chantal Andare) but Mayte interuppts the wedding and in said that the that Adolfo and Manola can not be married because Adolfo is the father of her baby.Mayte is force to marry Adolfo because if she didn't they had threaten her that Luis Antonio would be killed,and since Mayte loves Luis Antonio and cares for Luis Antonio's children,Daniel and Andres,she agrees to married the rapist.Her life is a living hell when she has to live with Adolfo and Jacienta.Then after a few months later Mayte gives birth to a beauitful child,Valeria,(Susana Diazayas).Jacienta finds a way to make Mayte lose custody of her daughter and Jacienta ends up keeping Valeria.Mayte was forced by Jacienta to leave,Mayte goes of to Mexico City,MX and starts a plot to recover her daughter and get revenge on Jaicenta.There in Mexico City she runs into Mardalena who is pregant.Mayte and Mardalena grfow very fund of each other and become best friend.Mayte works in a restaurant in Mexico City and becomes the restaurant's owner friend,Victor.Mardelena give birth to a baby girl,Veronica,(Alexa Damian).Years later,Mayte returns to recover her daughter but her plan was a failure.Mardelena gets killed but Veronica watches the mururder of her mother.Veronica after that day had more then one personality in her.Veronica always had to beloved dolls with her Vera and Violetta(Vera the greedy and self-centered one and Violetta caring,weak,and respectful,so Veronica saids about her dolls)After that Vera and Violetta became Veronica's personality.Veronica is also Valeria half sister.Mayte decides to take care of Veronica since Mardalena was a very good friend to her.Mayte and Victor adopt Veronica.After 17 years Mayte finally returns to her home town and gets revenge on Jacienta.
