Baron Abercromby

Baron Abercromby, of Aboukir and of Tullibody in the County of Clackmannan, was a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It was created on May 28, 1801 for Mary Anne Abercromby, in honour of her late husband, the noted military commander Lieutenant-General Sir Ralph Abercromby, who died from wounds received in the Battle of Aboukir in 1801. Their third son was James Abercromby, 1st Baron Dunfermline, Speaker of the House of Commons from 1835 to 1839. The Barony of Abercromby became extinct on the death of the fifth Baron, a great-grandson of the first Baroness, in 1924.
