The Bündner slate (German: Bündnerschiefer) is a geologic formation found in the Penninic nappes in the Alps. In French the name shistes lustrés is used.
The formation is a few kilometers thick monotonous layer of Mesozoic dark claystone, marl and sandy limestone. These sedimentary rocks were metamorphosed to calcareous phyllites, a rock abundant in micas that define their dominant foliation.
