Amy Sherman-Palladino

Amy Sherman-Palladino is an American Jewish television writer and producer. She was a staff writer on Roseanne but is best known as the creator and executive producer of Gilmore Girls, an hour-long television dramedy that airs on The CW. She is married to Daniel Palladino, who has also worked on Gilmore Girls and as a writer on Family Guy.

On April 20, 2006, it was announced that Amy Sherman-Palladino and her husband Daniel have decided not to renew their contract for a seventh season of Gilmore Girls. Instead, the show runner (the one deciding the general theme of the show and responsible for guiding the show through the season) for Season 7 will be Dave Rosenthal, a writer/producer on the show.

When asked why they were leaving, they issued the following statement: "Despite our best efforts to return and ensure the future of Gilmore Girls for years to come, we were unable to reach an agreement with the studio and are therefore leaving when our contracts expire at the end of this season. Our heartfelt thanks go out to our amazing cast, hard-working crew and loyal fans. We know that the story lines from this season will continue into the next, and that the integrity of the show will remain long after we leave Stars Hollow." They sat down for an interview with TV Guide writer Michael Ausiello, where they went further into their reasons for leaving the show.

On August 1, 2006, the Hollywood Reporter reported that the Fox Network had ordered a pilot of a new comedy project from Sherman-Palladino. The untitled comedy, which has received a pilot commitment from the network, is about two sisters who come together after years apart, when one of the sisters agrees to carry the other's baby. Sherman-Palladino will write, executive produce and direct the pilot. [1]
