This category is for biographical articles and images relating to members of Alpha Phi Alpha, the first intercollegiate Greek-letter fraternity established for African Americans. The organization was founded on the campus of Cornell University in 1906. The organization will celebrate a century of Manly Deeds, Scholarship, and Love for All Mankind in 2006.
Alpha Phi Alpha's membership include a Vice President, two Prime Ministers, a Supreme Court Justice, a Nobel laureate, two Rhodes Scholars, seven Presidential Medal of Freedom recipients, three Congressional Gold Medal of Honor recipients, fourteen Spingarn Medal recipients, a Croix de guerre recipient, and six USPS commemorative stamp honorees. Buildings, monuments, and schools have been named after Alpha men such as the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, the Whitney Young Memorial Bridge, and Thurgood Marshall College.
