Albert Sleeper

Albert E. Sleeper 1862 - 1934 was an American politician. He served as a Republican governor of Michigan from 1917 to 1921.
Before serving as Governor Sleeper was a successful businessman owning several banks and extensive real estate. Sleeper also served in the Michigan State Senate. During his term as governor he created the first permanent state police force, issued the first driver's license, and was instrumental in the founding of several state parks.
