Acquaviva Platani is a hill town of the province of Caltanissetta.
The name of the town is derived from the many natural springs in the area - the "Platani' being added at a later date in order to distinguish it from the other towns and villages of the same name in Sicily. Platani is the name of the river formed by those natural springs.
