A4146 road
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The A4146 is a minor A-class road running through south central England from M1 Junction 14 at Milton Keynes, through Leighton Buzzard and Dagnall to Hemel Hempstead, where it terminates at the A414.
In Milton Keynes, the road briefly follows the H6 Childs Way from Junction 14 before turning south onto the V11 Tongwell Street, west again onto the H10 Bletcham Way and once more to the south where it multiplexes with the A5. It then separates again, continuing as the Milton Keynes southern bypass south of Fenny Stratford.
[edit] Diversion
From a point just south of Bletchley, Milton Keynes, a brand new alignment is being built for the road, forming the Leighton Buzzard eastern bypass, and hugging the route of the West Coast Main Line. This is scheduled to open in spring 2007 according to signposts on the A505. The route is proposed to tie in with a proposed A418 Wing bypass. A short stretch of the A4146 bypass was built in 2004 - this was a stretch of fully-landscaped dual carriageway spanning the south of Water Eaton in the very south of Milton Keynes. At present it is very under-used however it will see a surge in traffic when the rest of the bypass is opened.
