Some claimed that the naming of the project was changed as the cancellation of K nomenclature by AMD.

As the industry is moving towards multiple simpler cores, multi-threaded applications, rather than the K9/K10 approach of a large 8 issue core. K9 or K10 may be used by AMD at some point in the future, but at present, do not appear to refer to actual products, and the initial projects allocated those internal code names no longer exist.
