In ice hockey, The French Connection was the nickname of a Buffalo Sabres' forward line consisting of Gilbert Perreault, René Robert, and Richard (Rick) Martin. The line was so named because all three members hail from the French-speaking Canadian province of Québec.
The three players remained teammates from late in the 1971-1972 season until the end of the 1978-1979 after which Robert joined the Colorado Rockies. All three have had their numbers retired by the Buffalo Sabres.
