Gonzalo Sorondo (born October 9, 1979 Montevideo) is a defensive Uruguayan footballer who plays for Charlton Athletic in the FA Premier League.
Gonzalo Sorondo began his career with Uruguayan club Defensor Sporting Club, moving to Internazionale in 2001. By 2003 he was on loan to Belgian club Standard Liège. Crystal Palace took him on loan in August 2004 and his loan to Charlton was confirmed in July 2005 after he obtained a work permit. At the summer of 2006 he became free agent, signed a new-deal with Charlton. [1]
He was regular member of Uruguay national team, made his debut against Colombia, 15 August 2000 and played for his country in the 2002 FIFA World Cup, but dropped in recent years, due to injuries and limited league appearances.
He also played in 1999 FIFA World Youth Championship, which finished in 4th place (now the FIFA U-20 World Cup).
