Emanuel Schäfer

Emanuel Schäfer (born April 20, 1900-died December 4, 1974), an SS-Oberführer, was Reinhard Heydrich's protegee, head of the security police in Serbia during World War II. For having murdered by gas 6,280 women and children, he was sentenced after the war, in Germany, to six and a half years in prison.
After World War I service in a Field Artillery Regiment and postwar service in the Freikorps{Marinebrigade Ehrhardt}, Schäfer was a member of the Stahlhelm far right group from 1925 to 1928. With Catholic origins, he became an evangelist in 1928, before self-designing himself as a Gottgläubig as soon as 1936. He joined the SA in 1933 and was appointed group leader on April 20, 1933. He was an active member of the Sicherheitsdienst (SD), the SS security services, as soon as 1933, and entered the SS in September 1936.
Emanuel Schäfer took part in the discussion in Berlin on September 21, 1939, with Heydrich, the bureau chiefs of the RSHA (Reich Security Main Office), and Adolf Eichmann.
