Boa Ventura (São Vicente)

Boa Ventura (Portuguese for Bonaventure) is a parish in the district of São Vicente in the Madeira Islands. The population in 2001 is 1,537, its density is 58.7/km² and the area is 26.2 km². It is the largest parish in area, the second in population and the smallest in density in the parish. It is located near São Vicente. The main industry are agriculture with a few businesses. It is connected with a road linking to São Vicente and the western part of the island. The Atlantic Ocean is to the north. The mountains are to the south. The parish of Porto Moniz probably boundes to the west.
