United States presidential election, 2004, in Michigan

A blue-collar Great Lakes state with an important Catholic population, Michigan went to Al Gore by a slim 5% margin. As a consequence, it was considered as a possible target for Republicans this year, who campagned heavily here. However, the state went anyway for democratic challenger John F. Kerry, with a margin of victory of 4%.
