Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom

Elizabeth II (born April 21, 1926) is the Queen of the United Kingdom and many other countries around the world, known as Commonwealth Realms, like Canada.

The full list is Queen of Antigua and Barbuda, Queen of Australia, Queen of The Bahamas, Queen of Barbados, Queen of Belize, Queen of Canada, Queen of Grenada, Queen of Jamaica, Queen of New Zealand, Queen of Papua New Guinea, Queen of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Queen of Saint Lucia, Queen of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Queen of the Solomon Islands, Queen of Tuvalu, and Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Her father George VI of the United Kingdom had become king after his brother (Edward VIII of the United Kingdom) abdicated (decided to stop being King) in 1936.

George VI reigned until 1952 and, after his death, the Crown passed to his first daughter, Elizabeth. She became queen on 6 February 1952. Her husband, who had married her in 1947, is the Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, who is originally from Greece. They have four children, the first of whom is His Royal Highness Charles, the Prince of Wales, heir to the throne after his mother's death or abdication. She also has a daughter named Anne and two other sons, Andrew and Edward.

The royal family, especially Elizabeth's four children, have been involved in many scandals and have shocked public opinion with their marital troubles, which led to some divorces. Despite this, the Queen went on reigning without creating scandals, because she paid attention to her job.

In 1997, after her daughter-in-law Diana, Princess of Wales's death, she was accused of not caring about it. In 2002, when her mother, the Queen Mother died, Elizabeth celebrated her Golden Jubilee, which meant she had reigned for 50 years. It is said that she has no thought to abdicate (resign), because she says she wants to reign as long as she can, but lately, she has travelled less and has given some of her jobs to her son Charles.
