Armenian Genocide
From Wikipedia, a free encyclopedia written in simple English for easy reading.
The Armenian Genocide refers to the massacres and deportation of Ottoman Armenians during 1915 - 1917. The use of the word genocide is controversial (people argue about it) because the government of Turkey says that the deaths happened because of war between the Armenians and Ottoman Turks. The Armenians and most scholars who say that the genocide did happen say that 1.5 million Armenians were killed by the Ottoman government. Some Turkish scholars also support this thesis (argument).
