Charlemagne, or Charles the Great, was among the greatest of military leaders in the Middle Ages. He conquered much of western and central Europe. As king, Charlemagne revived the political and cultural life that had disappeared with the fall of the Western Roman Empire.
카롤루스 대제(742년 또는 747년 - 814년 1월 28일, 라틴어: Carolus Magnus, 프랑스어: Charlemagne 샤를마뉴 독일어: Karl der Große, 카를 대제, 영어: Charles the Great, 찰스 대제)는 카롤링거 왕조의 프랑크 왕국 2대 국왕이다.
