Sealand
From Wikipedia, a free encyclopedia written in simple English for easy reading.
Sealand is a very small country in the Atlantic Ocean, but it is not an island. A boat was set out in the ocean so it wouldn't move around any more, and that became Sealand. It is so small that there is not more than 5 people in it. Even though a man named Michael Bates says Sealand is a country, no other countries agree with him. Once some people from a country named The Netherlandsthought that it is not really a country, so they went over there to take it over. Michael Bates didn't want this to happen, so he used helicoptersto get it back. He even put some people in jail. Luckily, they let them go after awhile. If a boat goes too near Sealand, people from Sealand will fire guns at the boat. Even though Michael Bates is the prince of Sealand, it is very small so he usually is not there. Other people stay there to take care of the country. Sealand has its own stamps, national anthem, money, flag, and more things just like a real country. Even though every other country says that Sealand does not count as a country, Michael Bates has good reasons why it should: Sealand is out in the ocean, and when he created it no country owned the ocean. People told Michael Bates to let his prisoners from The Netherlandsgo. If they thought Sealand was not a country, they wouldn't ask him to do that.
