The Penis is a part of the male body. It is an organ used for urination (getting rid of liquid waste), reproduction, and for sexual pleasure.

[edit] Urination
The penis is used by males to urinate. Urine comes from the bladder through the urethra in the penis. Because the penis sticks out and can be moved around, most men urinate standing up.
[edit] Erection and ejaculation
A penis can be in erection if a man is sexually aroused. In erection, the penis is filled with blood and it becomes bigger, longer, thicker, and harder. In sexual intercourse the penis is put into the vagina or anus. Penetration (putting the penis in someone's anus or vagina) is difficult if the penis is not hard enough.
Men can also masturbate, which means that they excite their own penises and other sensitive areas of their body, such as the scrotum. Excitement usually leads to an orgasm, a very good feeling. When a man has an orgasm, he shoots semen from the hole at the tip of his penis. A man must have gone through puberty before he can shoot out semen.
Semen consists of sperm cells from the testicles and some liquid from the prostate. When a man is having sex with a woman and he ejaculates in her vagina, the sperm in his semen can make her pregnant. The primary sexual function of the penis is to be inserted into the vagina and deliver semen to cause pregnancy.
[edit] Penis size in humans
The length and thickness of the penis can be very different in different men. The size of a soft penis is much smaller than when it is hard. Some penises grow more when they get hard than other penises. In most cases, whether a penis is big or small does not change whether it can be used for sex.
[edit] Circumcision
The foreskin is a fold of skin that covers the end of the penis. Its primary design is to protect the glans (head) of the penis. Cutting off the foreskin is called circumcision. In some religions, babies and young boys have their foreskin cut off. Some men have the foreskin cut off when they are adults because they have problems with their foreskin. Some men have the foreskin cut off because they want to change how their penis looks, usually to match a cultural stereotype. In the Jewish religion baby boys are required to have their foreskin removed. There are several risks concerning circumcision, notably infection from the surgery and loss of glans sensitivity due to the "toughening up" of the glans, but they usually don't have a major effect on the sexual function of the penis.
