Vannorgel

Vannorgel er en betegnelse brukt om pipeorgler fra antikken hvor spilleluftens trykk blir regulert ved hjelp av trykket fra en vannsøyle. Dette prinsippet gav også det greske navnet til de første orgler: organon hydraulikon (fra oganon: redskap, hydor: vann, aulos: rørbladsinstrument).
Dette instrumentet var det første keyboardinstrumentet man kjenner til. Oppfinnelsen tilskrives en Ctesibius som bodde i Egypt på 200-tallet fvt. Vannorgelet ble et meget populæt instrument blant grekerne og senere i Romerriket. Det ble laget i mange typer som varierte i størrelse og antall piper.
