WGFL is the CBS affiliate station in Gainesville, Florida, licensed in High Springs, Florida. WGFL is owned by Pegasus Broadcasting. Its transmitter is located in Newberry, Florida.

WGFL is carried on cable 4 in Gainesville and the surrounding area, hence the CBS 4 branding, but not in Ocala (part of the Orlando market), where Orlando's WKMG is offered instead.

WGFL offers a simulcast of Jacksonville CBS affiliate WTEV's daily newscasts at 6 and 11 PM.

Notebly, WGFL does offer syndicated game shows Jeopardy! and Wheel Of Fortune.

[edit] History

WGFL originally opened as a UPN and WB affiliate in 1997. In 2003, following Jacksonville's CBS swap from WJXT to WTEV, WGFL also made the swap to CBS, in order to keep CBS service available in the area.

Starting in September 2006, WGFL will offer My Network TV on its DT2 subchannel, which will be a simulcast of WMYG-LP. On the My Network TV main network website, it lists WGFL DT2 along with WMYG-LP as an affiliate.

WGFL also operated the local WB affiliate, which was known as WB 10. [1]
