[בעאַרבעטן] administrator

Hello. You are now an administrator here. If you have any problems, I'm sure Danny will be pleased to help since he is an experienced admin on the English Wikipedia, and temporarily one here too. Good luck with the new role.

[בעאַרבעטן] Request for desysoppation

I would like to request that the sysophood of‪ "קלײנער קעניג" AKA "Node.ue" should be revoked.

‪It is obvious that he hardly speaks any Yiddish, and he takes perfect words and turns them into nonsense. For example: http://yi.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=%D7%A4%D6%BC%D7%99%D7%A0%D7%92%D7%B0%D7%99%D7%9F&diff=0&oldid=1758

‪In that article he changed the word "goes" to "divorce". There are only two reasons someone should make such an edit; 1) if the changer knows very little Yiddish. 2) vandalism.

I will respond to you here instead of deleting outrageous insults you make. First thing, I am not this banned vandalist "node ue". Second, it is insulting to me you say I can not speak my mother language. Small mistakes such as that is easily explained as a typo, vandalism like Node Ue's is much more bad. You have many similar mistake, and also you do not spell words properly sometimes even though it can be understood still, and you always ignore nikudim which even though it is OK in Hebrew you should not do in Yiddish, also you write "vu" as tsvey-vov, alef, vov instead of tsvey-vov, melupm-vov, and other small things like this which make it more hard to read it.

    • Mistakes like those are usually typos when they occur in your original document. But if you deliberately edit a particular word from good to nonsense, it is only from poor knowledge of Yiddish. And that was just one example. Take a look here:
http://yi.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=%D7%93%D7%A2%D7%A6%D7%99%D7%9E%D7%90%D6%B7%D7%9C&diff=0&oldid=1886
This is total rubbish. יעדע קאָלום טאַפֿליע צען מאָל די פֿערטע קאָלום.
Unlike you, I was taught to write Yiddish in elementary school. And my teacher said that you never write three vav’s in a row, instead you put an aleph after the second vav.
I suggest that you go out and buy this week’s edition of The Blatt, Der Yid, and The Tzietung, and take a look at how the leading Yiddish newspapers today spell words.

[בעאַרבעטן] How he does it

‪Here is a quote from him:

‪"I have spent any time I'm not on the computer in the last few days scouring a Yiddish dictionary for words from the topic index, such as "Christianity", which is fairly difficult because it's a one-way dictionary so I have to 1. guess the first sound of the Yiddish word 2. use my poor knowledge of the Yiddish alphabet to find the appropriate place which is usually the most time-consuming part, and 3. sometimes search up and down individual pages over and over again until I actually notice the word, if it's there."

‪Taken from here: http://mail.wikipedia.org/pipermail/wikipedia-l/2004-November/035736.html

This is not even my email address, and it also is an old email. If you want to say I had said something, please choose something I really had said.

[בעאַרבעטן] Conclusion

‪We don’t need someone with that amount of Yiddish knowledge to edit what native Yiddish speakers write. And all he does is deappetite and/or block other Yiddish writers.

I blocked you for two main reasons and a smaller reason, one you are a vandalist (it is obvious you are the same person who wrote the vandalist article "human sexuality"), and you have made strong insults to people (the insult you left here before in yiddish), the minor reason is your orthography. you are the first user I banned, and even then it is only temporary. If you can promise to me that you will stop these things you do I will unban you myself. --קלײנער קעניגל 22:08, 20 Jan 2005 (UTC)

    • I am sorry for the Yiddish remark, because I did not back it up with proof and I did not elaborate what I wanted to say with that. And that made it seem like a pure insult.
I did not write the article on human sexuality and I don’t even know what was written there. It seems like you chose that accusation because nobody can read it anymore so they won’t find you lying.
‎ ‎ ‎ There is nothing wrong with my orthography. That’s how I was taught in school, that’s how people all around me write, and that’s how the newspapers that I read are written. I will not change that because some newcomer to Yiddish wants me to.

[בעאַרבעטן] Vital Nomination

‪I would also like to suggest that Danny be given permanent adminship in the Yiddish wikipedia, as we need someone trustworthy to keep tabs on the unknown sysops.

נו ,קלײנער קעניגל, װוז איז ?

[בעאַרבעטן] Please stop harassing other dialects.

Your dialect is not "superior" or "better" than others. And it’s very impolite of you to change everything to your dialect. Especially since you are not even adding original content, all you do is edit the work of others to a different dialect.

Take a look at this Yiddish forum, with thousands of viewers, written in our dialect. http://www.hydepark.co.il/hydepark/forum.asp?forum_id=7957

‪Also, if you didn’t know this, many people do write דעסימאל, and it’s appropriate for them to have at least a redirect. Especially since there are other articles that already link to דעסימאל. Why do you keep deleting the redirects?

--חיים זעליג בערגער 07:17, 1 Feb 2005 (UTC)‪

I am not changing dialects. I am changing orthography, from your unstandardised informal orthography to modern standard Yiddish orthography. --קלײנער קעניגל 07:32, 1 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Whatever you want to call it, please stop doing it. At least until a policy is decided by the whole community – you are not a king here, after all.
--חיים זעליג בערגער 21:33, 1 Feb 2005 (UTC)
I see no reason to stop, since this orthography is already the most widely used in the Yiddish community. Most Yiddish websites use it, some periodicals use it, books have been published in it, and the most comprehensive dictionary of Yiddish published in recent times was written in it.
This is less complex an issue than you may think because most of the differences between the standard orthography and your orthography are matters of the finer distinction: ‫יי in your orthography can be either "ey" or "ay", in the standard orthography the distinction is made by ‫ײ vs. ײַ, the same thing with your ‫פ vs. standard פּ and פֿ, and your א vs. standard אַ and אָ. One of the very few differences that isn't a vital distinctional difference like these is your וואו vs. standard ‫װוּ. While all of the distinctions that your orthography does not make can usually read from the specific situation, to read is easier and less ambiguous if all distinctions are made. --קלײנער קעניגל 22:45, 1 Feb 2005 (UTC)

You are entitled to your opinion, and most of the facts you stated are inaccurate. But this is not the place for you and me to debate which dialect is better. (I am sure that Americans can find many reasons why their dialect is better than the British.) That is not the point. The fact is that many do speak, write, print, and type in our dialect, and that the Wikipedia follows a democratic process, and it’s up to the community to decide on policies, not on the first one to grab the power of sysopship.
חיים זעליג בערגער 08:22, 2 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Which of this facts is the inaccurate one? Again I tell you this is not a difference of dialect (דיאַלעקט). It is a difference in the orthography (אױסלײג). This is not a place of debate. There is not a "community" here to speak of, this is the reason there is only a small number of articles. Americans and British spelling does differ but not in this way: your spelling is poor and does not reflect the speech accurately. Unless you want to tell me you pronounce ‫נײַן (nine) the same way you pronounce נײן (no)? What about פֿראָסט and פּראָסט? Then why do you write them the same way? As I said before it is most used in the world and the internet, in addition to being more clear than your spellings. http://www.sonic.net/%7Ealm/yiddish/alsblog.html http://katlekanye.blogspot.com/ http://israblog.nana.co.il/tblogread.asp?blog=7203 http://elabrek.blogspot.com/ http://www.sholemberger.blogspot.com/ http://www.tapuz.co.il/tapuzforum/main/anashim.asp?id=516&pass=1 http://www.google.com/intl/yi/ http://israblog.nana.co.il/blogread.asp?blog=1782 http://yiddish.haifa.ac.il/ http://www.yiddishvoice.com/ and especially http://www.yiddish.org.il/main/home/000.asp?status=start . Again this is not a "dialect" so nobody speaks yours and nobody speaks mine - they speak both of ours because it is the same dialect. Some people do write print and type in your spelling, but there is no particular organized spelling conventions followed by everybody, just some suggestions from various newspapers. The reason I blame you before for writing "human sexuality" vandalism is because it came in at a similar time to your writing here. --קלײנער קעניגל 11:05, 2 Feb 2005 (UTC)

You have been de-sysoped temporarily due to numerous complaints from various members of this emerging community. I encourage you to discuss it with me, and I am sure we can come to a compromise. In the meanwhile, it does no one any good to have you deleting redirects. Even if you do not like the orthography, it is reasonable to assume that some users will look up words in alternate spellings. Please stop doing this, and discuss the desysoping with me first. Danny 02:29, 4 Feb 2005 (UTC)

[בעאַרבעטן] de-sysoped

Because this is a small wiki, I took the word of two other users on this wiki to de-sysop you (one of which his a sysop and bureaucrat here). Please work this issue out with them and other people who edit here. --Maveric149 02:43, 4 Feb 2005 (UTC)
