Guillemot ailesinindeki 5 erkek kardeş 1986 yılında bilgisayar oyun yapımcısı ve dağıtıcısı olan Ubisoft'u kurmuştur.Ubisoft firmasını EAGames , Sierra ve Microphone firmaları satın almak istemişlerdir.10 sene içinde büyük gelişme kaydeten firma Almanya , Amerika , İngiltere'de rekor şatışlar yapmıştı.1990 yılına kadar sadece amerikada oyun yapan firma 1994 yılında Fransa'nın Montreuil şehrinde ilk stüdyosunu açmıştır.Aynı yıl Michel Ancel Rayman karakterini yaratmış ve bugüne kadar gelmeyi başarmıştır.1996 yılında Ubisoft Çin'in Shanghai de bir stüdyo daha açtı.
