Beltedrift

Beltedrift er framdriftsprinsippet brukt på blant annet militære panserkjøretøy som stridsvogner, anleggsmaskiner som gravemaskiner, og enkelte andre terrengkjøretøy som snøskutere.
Beltenes store overflate gjør at kjøretøyet distribuerer vekten sin jevnere over underlaget enn hjulkjøretøy kan. For eksempel er marktrykket til en vanlig bil tilsvarende lufttrykket i dekkene, kanskje rundt 200 kPa, mens en M1 Abrams stridsvogn på 63 tonn har et marktrykk på bare 103 kPa. Den store kontaktflaten med underlaget gjør også at beltekjøretøy har betydelig bedre grep på underlaget.
