WFUM, also known as Michigan Television, is a PBS affiliate owned and operated by the University of Michigan, whose studios are based at the U of M's Flint Campus. WFUM first went on the air on August 23, 1980. WFUM's transmitter is located on Kipp Road in Atlas Township, Michigan just south of the town of Goodrich in the southeast corner of Genesee County. WFUM's antenna is 846 feet tall.

WFUM was, and still is, U of M's only TV station, but is no stranger to the medium -- U of M produced a syndicated educational series, "University of Michigan Presents", which was syndicated to TV stations nationwide from the 1960s into the early-1980s.

WFUM also owns WFUM-FM 91.1, which repeats Ann Arbor's WUOM.

On cable, WFUM can be seen on Comcast Flint channel 3, Charter Saginaw channel 12 and Bright House Livonia channel 22 . It is not seen on Charter systems in Bay City, Midland or Mount Pleasant, Cogeco Windsor, or Comcast systems in Detroit and the southern suburbs, though it's available on Comcast systems in Ann Arbor and Detroit's western and northern suburbs and Wide Open West Plymouth channel 8.

Many cable systems offer WFUM and either Bay City's WDCP, Detroit's WTVS, East Lansing's WKAR-TV or Toledo's WGTE.
