Philippe Dauman

Philippe Dauman is a corporate director of Viacom and CBS Corporation. On September 5th 2006, he was named CEO of Viacom following resignation of Tom Freston. Dauman is a longtime associate of the company's chairman Sumner Redstone.

Mr. Dauman was elected to Viacom’s Board as of January 1, 2006. Previously, he served as a director of the former Viacom Inc., a predecessor of the Company, since 1987. He has been Co-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DND Capital Partners, L.L.C., a private equity firm, since May 2000. Prior to co-founding DND Capital Partners, Mr. Dauman served as the former Viacom Inc.’s Deputy Chairman from 1996 until May 2000, and Executive Vice President from 1994 until May 2000. From 1993 to 1998, Mr. Dauman served as General Counsel and Secretary of Viacom. Mr. Dauman is also a director of National Amusements, Inc., Lafarge North America Inc., and CBS Corporation.

Dauman served from 1994 to 2000 as a member of Viacom's executive committee and as executive vice president in charge of strategic transactions, legal and government affairs, human resources and administration, supervising Paramount Entertainment, Showtime Networks and Simon & Schuster.

From 1993 to 1998, he also was Viacom's general counsel.

Before Viacom, Mr. Dauman was a partner of the New York-based law firm of Shearman & Sterling, where he served as principal outside counsel to Viacom. At Shearman & Sterling, Mr. Dauman was principally engaged in corporate and securities law and was a senior member of the firm's Mergers and Acquisitions Practice Group. Mr. Dauman represented numerous corporate and investment banking clients, whom he advised on corporate structuring and governance matters, in addition to acquisitions, divestitures and other transactions.

Mr. Dauman serves on the Board of Trustees of the Museum of the City of New York and the Board of Visitors of Columbia Law School.

Mr. Dauman earned his bachelor's degree from Yale in 1974 and his law degree from Columbia Law School in 1978.
