David Alan Grier

David Alan Grier (born at 11:55 PM on June 30, 1955 in Detroit, Michigan) is an American comedian most famous for starring in television shows such as the Emmy Award winning In Living Color (1990–1994), Premium Blend (2001), Life with Bonnie (2002-2004) and DAG (2000–2001). He starred in his own one-hour standup comedy special in 2003 on Comedy Central entitled The Book of David-The Cult Figures Manifesto. Grier is sometimes referred to by his initials: DAG.

DAG received a BA from The University of Michigan, and an MFA from the Yale School Of Drama. He was nominated for a Tony Award for best supporting actor in a musical for his role as Jackie Robinson in the musical The First, directed by Martin Charnin and written by Joel Seigal. He is the winner of the Theatre World Award for The First and The Golden Lion Award for best actor at the Venice Film Festival for the film Streamers, directed by Robert Altman. He is currently starring in the revival production of "The Wiz" at the La Jolla Playhouse directed by Des Macnuff, and will also host his own national late night syndicated TV show in early 2007.

He is often referred to as the third host of the radio show Loveline, as he is a frequent and popular guest. His most famous bit on Loveline that was discovered by Adam Carolla is where he takes names of medicine (such as Norethindrone, Levenogestrel, etc.) and changes them into African-American children's names. Grier has also appeared in films Amazon Women on the Moon (1987), I'm Gonna Git You Sucka (1988), Boomerang (1994), Blankman (1994), Jumanji (1995), BAADASSSSS! (2004), and The Woodsman (2004). He played a major role in the 2005 motion picture remake of Bewitched, and also made a cameo appearance on Blue Collar Comedy Tour: The Movie featuring Jeff Foxworthy and Ron White. He is also a frequent guest on the TV show Crank Yankers..

He is number 94 on Comedy Central's list of the 100 Greatest Stand-ups of All Time.

He is a friend of Damon Wayans and Adam Carolla.

Grier is the host of new NBC TV show Thank God You're Here.
