อะโกนิสต์

อะโกนิสต์ (อังกฤษ:agonist) เป็นสารที่เมื่อเชื่อมต่อกับ รีเซพเตอร์ (receptor)ทางชีวเคมี แล้วทำให้เกิดการกระตุ้นกลไกตอบสนองของ เซลล์ อะโกนิสต์ จะทำงานตรงข้ามกับแอนตาโกนิสต์ (antagonist)ที่เมื่อเชื่อมต่อกับ รีเซพเตอร์ แล้วจะไม่เกิดกลไกการกระตุ้น ดังนั้นเมื่อ แอนตาโกนิสต์ เชื่อมต่อกับรีเซพเตอร์แล้วอะโกนิสต์ เข้าเชื่อมอีกไม่ได้ การยับยั้งการทำงานของอะโกนิสต์จึงเกิดขึ้น
อะโกนิสต์บางส่วน(partial agonist)กระตุ้นรีเซพเตอร์ เหมือนกันแต่ไม่ทำให้เกิดการเปลี่ยนแปลงทางสรีรวิทยาได้เหมือน อะโกนิสต์ รีเซพเตอร์ในร่างกายมนุษย์ ก็ทำงานโดยการกระตุ้นและยับยั้งโดยสารเคมีที่เกิดขึ้นตามธรรมชาติเช่น
- ฮอร์โมน (hormone)
- นิวโรทรานสมิตเตอร์ (neurotransmitter)
นอกจากนี้สารสังเคราะห์เช่น ยา ก็สามารถกระตุ้นรีเซพเตอร์นี้ได้เช่นกัน
