Malcolm X
From Wikipedia, a free encyclopedia written in simple English for easy reading.
Malcolm X was an African American nationalist and civil rights activist.
His actions and speeches were, at first, greatly inspired by the beliefs and teachings of the Nation of Islam. Once he found out that the leader of the NOI was having multiple affairs, he converted to mainstream Sunni Islam. At this point, he was much less critical of the white race and eventually accepted that white people can be good people, too. Malcolm X was assassinated in New York City on February 21, 1965 on the first day of National Brotherhood Week. There is suspicion that the NOI was involved with his murder.
