UT1

Universell tid UT1 er en tidsskala som er basert på Jordens rotasjon.
En internasjonal avtale sier at UTC og UT1 ikke skal ha et større avvik enn 0,9 sekunder. Derfor må UTC synkroniseres med UT1 jevnlig. Dette blir gjort ved bruk av et skuddsekund. Perioden mellom to skuddsekund er omtrent 3,5 år.
