Deutsche Reichsbahn

Deutsche Reichsbahn (den tyske riksbane, DR) ble opprettet i 1920 ved sammenslåing av statsbanene i Preussen, Bayern, Sachsen, Württemberg, Baden, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Hessen og Oldenburg, som samtidig kom under føderal kontroll. Tysklands forfatning av 1919 gjorde dette nødvendig
Etter 2. verdenskrig ble den tyske jernbanen delt. Jernbanen i DDR ble fortsatt kalt Deutsche Reichsbahn, mens jernbanen i Vest-Tyskland ble kalt Deutsche Bundesbahn. Jernbanen i det delte Berlin var i sin helhet administrert av Deutsche Reichsbahn. Deutsche Reichsbahn og Deutsche Bundesbahn fortsatte å operere som selvstendige selskaper også etter gjenforeningen av Tyskland. I januar 1994 ble selskapene slått sammen under navnet Deutsche Bahn.
