Aung San

General Aung San (på burmesisk: bòʊdʒoʊʔ àʊn sʰán, født 13. februar 1915, død 19. juli 1947) var en burmansk revolusjonær, nasjonalist, general og politiker. Aung San er mest kjent for å ha forhandlet frem Burmas selvstendighet fra Storbritannia i 1947
Aung Sans foreldre var advokat U Phar og Daw Suu, og han ble født i byen Natmauk, i distriktet Magwe som ligger i det sentrale Burma. Hans familie var allerede kjent i motstandstandsbevegelsen som bekjempet Storbritannias anektering av landet som en del av Britisk India i 1886 .
Aung San innstiftet Anti-Fascist People's Freedom League i 1944, og ble Burmas leder i 1946 under det britiske styret. Han forhandlet frem burmansk selvstendighet i 1947, men ble drept av politiske motstandere før selvstendigheten trådte i kraft.
Aung San var faren til menneskerettighetsaktivisten og nobelprisvinneren Aung San Suu Kyi.
