Alvøen

Alvøen eller Alvøy er et gårdsnavn og stedsnavn i Laksevåg i Bergen. Etter at Alvøens Papirfabrik AS hadde produsert papir i Alvøen siden 1797, stanset papirmaskinene for godt i 1981. Fabrikken var da landets eldste papirfabrikk. Eiendommen med det staselige direktørhuset ble åpnet som museum i 1983, i regi av Vestlandske kunstindustrimuseum.
Alvøen ligger ved Vatlestraumen helt vest i Bergen kommune, der lasteskipet «Rocknes» gikk på grunn og kantret i januar 2004. Havaristen ble slept til Alvøen, stabilisert og delvis undersøkt, før den ble tatt til CCB-basen ved Ågotnes på Sotra for videre undersøkelser og snuoperasjon.
