[edit] Talk
Port Phillip has been incorrectly referred to as Port Phillip Bay pages in many of the suburb pages - I am happy to correct but wanted some thoughts from others
- This comment is from Talk:Port Phillip about 12 months ago:
- "According to the Geographic Place Names Register of Victoria (at [1]), Port Phillip is an "Official Place Name", and Port Phillip Bay an "Official Alternative Place Name". Philip J. Rayment 16:41, 12 Jan 2005 (UTC)." It would appear that there is nothing to correct. - Cuddy Wifter 05:03, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
- Port Phillip Bay being the more common usage would tend to count in its favor as well - use common names. Ambi 06:09, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Trams?
Should tram classes be listed here, e.g.
See C class Melbourne tram for an example of infoboxes and templates.
- I think that's not a bad idea, as long as someone is prepared to do them (as they require a bit of knowledge outside of that related to Melbourne). Ambivalenthysteria 08:44, 21 Jun 2004 (UTC)
Prehaps tram routes could be incorporated, seeing as they're now getting articles. TPK 07:25, 4 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Feel free. :)
- It'd be good to get things moving again here - a lot of the items on this list have been here for a couple of months now. Particularly the suburbs - we don't even have many good examples yet. Anyway, I've at least got the Fringe Festival on my to-do-very-soon list, and I'll try and get some of the others done. Have you had a chance to do any more line diagrams? Ambi 11:58, 4 Aug 2004 (UTC)

- Unfortuneately no... things have slowed down a lot of late, which is a problem. I'll try and get some things done asap though. TPK 08:55, 23 Aug 2004 (UTC)

- Any particular preference as to which tram routes should be done first? Ambi 09:35, 30 Aug 2004 (UTC)

- You could pick them out of a hat? :) Probably the 109 as it has had some interesting recent history, or the light-rail lines (109 again and 96). I've tried to make some more railway diagrams, but Photoshop isn't being helpful... TPK 10:15, 30 Aug 2004 (UTC)

- Ack, oh well. Is it worth having seperate tram line articles and railway line articles for St Kilda and Port Melbourne, considering that they cover the same ground? Ambi 10:27, 30 Aug 2004 (UTC)

- Well the tram stops are different from the old train stations, and particularly the Port Melbourne line (as it was Australia's first!) has a lot of train-related history as distinct from its modern uses. I would make seperate articles and link them together with See Also. Anyway, routes 96 and 109 cover more ground on-street than they do on light-rail. TPK 11:25, 30 Aug 2004 (UTC)

- Ack, I guess I missed this at the time. That's fair enough, then. Have you got a chance to create either of tram articles? I'd like to get those two line articles done, as we did the Inner and Outer Circles, but time is a little short at the moment.

- I really should be doing more Melbourne-related stuff on here. As well as those rail articles, I think Sydney Road and Brunswick Street articles are about overdue. Ambi 05:00, 7 Sep 2004 (UTC)

- Well, Sydney Road is done. I'm gradually doing odd bits here and there. Eventually may get around to doing some of the Bicycle trails. Maybe have a go at the 19 tram route... --Takver 03:03, 29 Oct 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Closed Railway Lines?
Hi, new here, be gentle, etc, etc. I was wondering whether there should be some standard method for labeling the points where now-defunct lines branched off the urban network - something of an integration between the current and previous lines. With a clear means of distingishing between the two types, of course. Loki 04:15, 29 Oct 2004
[edit] New template design
I've written up a new template for the Melbourne project. I based it on designs from other projects, and I feel that it's a little more professional. I'm having trouble getting the "Discuss" bit in the bottom right hand corner of the template to link to this talk page, and I have no idea why....? But here it is:
Here are some open WikiProject Melbourne tasks:

So, what do you think?

- It looks fine to me. It'd be really nice if its content saw a bit of an update, too. Ambi 05:06, 22 October 2005 (UTC)
