"Wasting Love" is the third single from the Iron Maiden album Fear of the Dark, released in 1992. This song represents Iron Maiden's first and only power ballad released as a single to date. ("Strange World" and "Prodigal Son" both qualify as ballads, but were never released as singles.)
The single was only officially released in The Netherlands, although two different promotional one-track cds exist which were sent to U.S. radio stations. "Wasting Love" was the first Iron Maiden single that was not released on vinyl.
The B-side features three live tracks recorded at London's Wembley Arena on December 17, 1990, on the tour to support the No Prayer for the Dying album.
The single cover is the third Iron Maiden single which does not have Eddie on the front cover (the previous ones being "Running Free (live)" and "From Here to Eternity").
