Sekicho is a student at Temple Law School and a Microsoft Word jockey at a fairly major law firm in Tokyo, Japan. Born in Florida. Grew up around the southeastern United States. Spent a year of high school in Osaka. Graduated from the University of Florida. Worked for Bob Graham and Betty Castor, then decided to become a lawyer. Doubted this decision about halfway through the 1L year, but reconfirmed it after spending a summer working in Tokyo. Now preparing for an illustrious career as a gaikokuho jimu bengoshi, at least until the next time the mind changes.

I often sound like a Japan apologist. I'm not, really; I just think a lot of the anti-Japanese sentiment in Asia (and a lot of the anti-Asian sentiment in Japan) is unfounded or at least very exaggerated. This is the position I'm coming from in regard to some current disputes, such as the never-ending dispute over Dokdo/Takeshima/Liancourt Rocks.
Despite working in legal practice, where you're supposed to be a "zealous advocate," I despise POV, even where it seems to be conventional wisdom, because I feel that ignoring the counterargument leads to a weak argument.
My parents both worked in the airline industry. I wanted to be a pilot when I was a kid. I have no clue what the hell happened with that, but one of these days I'm getting a plane. I have a feeling it'll be steep to park it in Tokyo, but hey...
I like clever business plans. In particular, I'm a fan of Shinsei Bank and the Virgin Group.

Supreme Court of Japan Feb 2 - One of the most Star Wars-like government installations ever (and Japan has quite a few; contrast the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building).
Ikebukuro Feb 4 - But I was really drunk so I don't remember it too well.
Kobe Airport Feb 19 - Right after it opened. Apparently, every other person in the Kansai region had the same idea, so it was almost impossible to get around in there.
