KWUB is a The CW Plus affiliate on cable channel 6 in the Yuma, Arizona - El Centro, California market. Being a cable-only station, its calls are neither assigned nor sanctioned by the FCC. KWUB has been carried on the Adelphia cable systems. KECY-TV manages and provides local support for KWUB.

Currently, KSWT is in negoiations with Time Warner Cable for a new contract with its primary CBS affiliate as well as carrying its digital channel, The CW, on its basic cable lineup. [1]

Although negoiations are private it has been determined that the dispute over a new contract results in Time Warner not wanting to carry The CW on its basic cable lineup without KSWT paying Time Warner thousands of dollars for carrying the feed, which they didn't with former WB affiliate KWUB. KSWT has expressed they can't afford to pay the amount that Time Warner wants to carry The CW on basic cable. If negoiations cannot be met, KSWT will not be available on Time Warner Cable beginning October 31st and viewers won't be able to see CBS nor The CW on Time Warner Cable. Though KSWT will still be available via antenna (both anolog and digital) as KSWT is a broadcast station. [2]

[edit] The CW and My Network TV

KWUB was orginially a cable-only WB affiliate that was part of The WB 100+ Station Group. KWUB became the cable station affiliate for the The CW in the Yuma, AZ - El Centro, CA market in September 2006, when UPN and the WB merged earlier in the year. KSWT has been designated to take over management and support of the station, and to carry KWUB on a digital subchannel when the CW Network begins operations. KECY-TV currently airs MyNetworkTV programming after normal FOX network primetime programming.
