KWCH channel 12 is a CBS affiliate television station based in Wichita, Kansas. It is owned by Schurz Communications and was Wichita's and Kansas' first television station, signing on the air on July 1, 1953 under the call letters KTVH, then based in Hutchinson. In 1956, the station's facilities moved to its current location in Wichita. In 1983 KTVH became KWCH-TV. The main transmission point is the KWCH Tower.

KWCH is the flagship station for the Kansas Broadcasting System (KBS), a network of CBS affiliates serving Kansas and the number one rated television station in Kansas.

The KBS stations are:

KWCH also produces a 9:00pm newscast for the Wichita FOX affiliate KSAS-TV. In 2005 FOX Kansas Eyewitness at 9:00pm won "Best Newscast in Kansas" by the Kansas Association of Broadcasters. KWCH received "Station of the Year" by the KAB that same year.

On April 6, 2006, Media General announced that, in addition to acquiring four NBC owned-and-operated stations, it will be selling four of its TV stations. KWCH (including its satellites, which all count as one station) is one of them. [1]. KWCH and its satellites were sold to Schurz Communications, which closed on the stations on September 25, 2006.
