Kwale District

Kwale District is an administrative District in the Coast Province of Kenya. Its capital town is Kwale. The district has a population of 496.133 [1].

Kwale is mainly an inland district, but it has coastline south of Mombasa. Diani Beach is part of the Msabweni division. Shimba Hills National Reserve and Mwaluganje elephant sanctuary are other attractions in the district.

Kwale district has two local authorities: Kwale town council and Kwale county council.

The district is divied into six administrative divisions:

  • Kinango
  • Kubo
  • Matuga
  • Msabweni
  • Samburu -not to be confused with Samburu District
  • Shimba Hills

The district has three constituencies: Msambweni, Matuga and Kinango.
