Agra

Agra er en by i delstaten Uttar Pradesh, Indien. 1.200.000 indbyggere. Kendt for Taj Mahal, bygget 1630-1648 af kejser Shah Jahan, som gravkammer til hans hustru der døde i barselseng.
I begyndelsen af 1600-tallet blev byen gjort til residens af den afghanske Sultan Sikander. 1526 erobredes byen af Baber, 1559 af Akbar, og nu var Agra stormogulernes residens indtil 1658.
Byen er overordentlig rig paa pragtfulde bygninger i maurisk stil, blandt andre: Shah Djehangir's skønne palads, Moti-Masdshid (Perlemoskeen) og Djamna Masdshid
