Bùi Cầm Hổ là một danh nhân lịch sử Việt Nam trong thế kỷ 15.

Ông sinh ra và lớn lên tại xã Đậu Liêu huyện Thiên Lộc, nay là thị xã Hồng Lĩnh, tỉnh Hà Tĩnh. Xuất thân từ một kẻ chăn trâu nghèo khổ, nhờ tài trí mà được làm quan Ngự Sử triều nhà Lê. Sau đó, vì mâu thuẫn với Lê Sát, bị đổi ra làm An phủ sứ trấn Lạng Sơn. Khi Lê Sát phạm tội chuyên quyền, bị vua xử tử thì ông được triệu về kinh đô làm Ngự sử trung thừa.
Mùa đông năm 1438, Bùi Cầm Hổ được sung chức Phó sứ sang nhà Minh. Ông đã quay về vì sự ấm no của đồng bào Việt Nam, ông đã tổ chức đắp đập ngăn khe, đưa dòng nước trên núi Hồng Lĩnh chảy qua tây bắc, tưới cho cánh đồng Kẻ Treo (nay là thị xã Hồng Lĩnh).
Đền thờ Bùi Cầm Hổ ở Đậu Liêu, thị xã Hồng Lĩnh hiện nay đã được Bộ Văn hoá - Thông tin Việt Nam thông tin xếp hạng di tích lịch sử văn hóa cấp quốc gia.
