பேச்சு:ரக்ஷா பந்தன் - தமிழ் விக்கிபீடியா (Tamil Wikipedia)

பேச்சு:ரக்ஷா பந்தன்

கட்டற்ற கலைக்களஞ்சியமான விக்கிபீடியாவில் இருந்து.

The usage of the letter க்ஷ is becoming minimal these days in popular media and among people. So we may also avoid using it. It is just extra luggage for tamil alphabets :) We may use k+sha . It should also be noted that in Tamil alphabets only mei joins with uyir..here instead one mei is joining with another mei ( or uyir mei) to take a new character form ?? So it doesnt go well with tamil grammar too--ரவி (பேச்சு) 14:25, 7 ஆகஸ்ட் 2005 (UTC)

க்+ஷ indeed gives க்ஷ! The problem is with font rendering, and not the usage of letters. I don't see any problem with this. - ஸ்ரீநிவாசன் 14:52, 7 ஆகஸ்ட் 2005 (UTC)

Oh, now i understand the font rendering problem. This is beyond our control. But I saw that this article indeed was ரக் ஷா பந்தன் without rendering the two letters together. How was it possible ? At the same time I would like to underline my view that using க்ஷ is old fashioned and not in practice in the TN press--ரவி (பேச்சு) 15:23, 7 ஆகஸ்ட் 2005 (UTC)

Nothing is beyond your control! if you don't like க்ஷ, try using these fonts form CDAC. some of these fonts does render க் and ஷ seperately, and even ஸ் and ரீ seperately and not ஸ்ரீ. If you are using linux, you can even alter the keyboard layout and remove all the characters you don't like and even add some ultra special characters . It's all a matter of personal preference!
you've also made an interesting point about uyir and mei conjuction in Tamil grammar. forget about the grantha letters. even for normal tamil characters, i've learnt somewhere that the dot we use above mei letters and even, ை was introduced only in 20th century. i am interested in knowing more about how the characters were used earlier. i've also found that the scripts used in temples are far different from scripts we use today. perhaps, somebody with more knowledge about this can write an article about the evolution of tamil and related scripts? - ஸ்ரீநிவாசன் 18:59, 7 ஆகஸ்ட் 2005 (UTC)
Or at least translate en:Tamil script? -- Sundar \பேச்சு 06:40, 8 ஆகஸ்ட் 2005 (UTC)
