Washington Irving, född 3 april 1783 i New York, död 28 november 1859; amerikansk författare.
Under pseudonymen Diedrich Knickerbocker utgav han 1809 en parodisk hjältedikt, History of New York. 1815 reste han till England, där han bland annat utgav The Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon, Gent (1820), som innehöll berättelser såsom Rip Van Winkle och The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.
