Clothing
From Wikipedia, a free encyclopedia written in simple English for easy reading.
Clothing is a kind of item which is made to cover the torso, arms, and legs. Other kinds of clothing are coverings for the hands (gloves), feet (socks, shoes, sandals, boots) and head (hats). Almost all humans wear clothing. Clothing protects the human body from very hot or cold temperatures, and from other things, like insects or weapons, that might hurt a person if his or her body is not covered up. People from different cultures wear different clothing, and have different feelings about clothing.
People also decorate their bodies with makeup or perfume, and they also cut or change the hair on their heads and faces. They might also mark their skin by using tattoos, scarifications, and body piercings. But these things are not kinds of clothing.
Things that are carried and not worn, like purses, canes, and umbrellas, are called accessories, but are not kinds of clothing, either. Jewelry and eyeglasses are accessories too.
