Bardzo trudno zaproponować powszechnie akceptowalną definicję zwrotu corporate governance w polskiej literaturze. Najczęściej spotyka się takie propozycje tłumaczenia jak:
- kontrola w korporacji,
- ład korporacyjny,
- nadzór właścicielski,
- nadzór korporacyjny,
- władztwo korporacyjne.
Terminy te nie oddają istoty tego pojęcia, dlatego też proponuje się pozostać przy oryginalnym angielskim zwrocie.
