Ei salmebok er ei samling kristne salmar som kan inneheld tekst, og ofte òg melodi. Samlinga blir hyppig brukt i kyrkja, som gjerne har ei fastsett salmesamling.

- 1569: Den danske Psalmebog (Hans Thomissøns salmebok)
- 1699: Dend Forordnede Ny Kirke-Psalme-Bog (Kingos salmebok)
- Denne boka blei innført ved lov i alle kyrkjer i Danmark-Norge. Fram til 1780-åra var det den dominerande, for ikkje å seia einaste, salmeboka.
- 1740: Den Nye Psalme-Bog (Pontoppidans salmebok)
- 1778: Psalme-Bog eller En Samling af gamle og nye Psalmer (Guldbergs salmebok), utvikla av Ludvig Harboe og Ove Høegh-Guldberg, autorisert i 1783.
- 1798: Evangelisk-kristelig Psalmebog til Brug ved Kirke- og Huus-Andagt
- Fastsett av ein kommisjon med seks medlemmer, mellom anna diktaren Edvard Storm.
- 1869: Landstads salmebok
- 1873: Psalmebog til Kirke- og Huus-Andagt, utvikla av Andreas Hauge og godkjend ved kongeleg resolusjon, men blei aldri så mykje brukt som Landstad.
- 1925: Nynorsk salmebok
- 1926: Landstads reviderte salmebok
- Kritikk mot utval og utforming førte til ei omforming som blei gjort av av Gustav Jensen.
- 1978: Norsk Salmebok
- Avløyste Landstad som offisiell salmebok for den norske kyrkja og blir fortsatt brukt i dag.
