I'm Paul Whitfield. As of November 2006 I am 18 years of age, entering my last year of being a teen in next month.
All my life I have lived in Fremont, CA. My mother's maiden name is Vargas. The road I live on is Vargas Road. My great-grandfather Antonio Vargas traveled here from Portugal and started a family. My grandfather Abel Vargas built the house in which my family and I live in currently. The house is approximately a hundred years old (a little older most likely). I am related to three major families in Fremont: the Vargas' the Telles, and the Estebars.
I graduated from Mission San Jose High School in June of 2006. I currently attend Foothill College in Los Altos, CA. My goal is to earn an A.A. in Music Technology. From there I plan to transfer to USF and obtain a B.A. in Philosophy and then an M.F.A. in Writing. After that, I would like to work for a Ph.D. in either Philosophy or Writing (at which school I do not yet know) and become an editor at a publishing house. I love music and in the future you will probably see most of my additions being music/album related.

My original intent for joining the wikipedia user community was to get back at the site for not letting me include my band Nightfallsinparis in their directory. I have included the bio I wrote for my band, just because it's quite long and a very nice keepsake.

Nightfallsinparis is a screamo/hardcore band from Fremont, California. Formed by Alan Lin and Paul Whitfield in March of 2004, the band has no current material out on the market, except for a small 4 track demo they recorded late January 2006.
In March of 2004, Paul asked Alan if he'd like to start a band. Alan agreed and they quickly began a discussion of the line-up. Both Alan and Paul decided to sing for the band. Alan was an exceptional guitarist, while Paul was good in both guitar and bass. They agreed that a bassist was hard to find, so Paul took over the bass position and Alan took the lead guitar. Alan soon realized he wouldn't be able to play the riffs he wanted while singing, so they started to search for another guitarist. Soon they found Alan's friend, Nikhil Gopal. He accepted the offer and a line-up of three was established. They still needed a drummer, so Paul asked his younger brother Josh to fill in the position, since recently Josh had received a drumsert for Christmas.
In August 2004, the band finally started to practice together. They had some rough material, played a show at their school in September, and then in November they decided they wanted to record a little demo. They asked around and found that one of their friends had a decent setup in his house, so they went to his house late December and recorded 3 songs and fourth joke track. They released the demo under the name Hollow Promises in January 2005. In March 2005, they decided not to give out the demo anymore, but left it up on their purevolume and myspace sites.
In August 2005, Josh left due to his lack of will to be in the band, though no bad feelings were made from the break. In the same month, Paul asked Alan and Nik if he could join them in guitar. They agreed and the band set out to find a drummer and a bassist. Their quest was finished very quickly, luckily for them. In September they found bassist Chris Difede, and in November they found Jon Ting to be the band's drummer. They started practicing again, but this time it was obviously different. The band had taken a much heavier sound. They utilized Paul's natural ability to scream, while Alan began to compose more complex, integrated riffs.
In January they went to a studio and recorded an untitled four-track demo. They took down their old recordings and put up the new ones, a big change for their listeners. In early March, Chris moved up to Chico, and the band went on the search for a third bassist. They are currently still looking.
All in all, the band has only played a handfull of shows, mostly in the Bay Area. the Campbell Gaslighter and the Fremont Teen Center are their usual venues. For the last few years, the guys have been involved with graduating from high school. This has kept them from taking the band as far as they want in the show-playing area. But now, Nightfallsinparis' high school years are coming to a close. This upcoming June, Paul will be the first current member of Nightfallsinparis to graduate. The following year Alan and Nik will follow suite, and finally in June of 2008, Jon will graduate. If all goes as planned, the band will still be going strong, hopefully with alot more publicity and many more shows lined up.
But right now, the band has their hands full writing/learning new material and making their live show the best it can possibly be, because as a band their belief is that first and foremost, the goal of Nightfallsinparis is to make their audiences enjoy the show just as much as they do.
