[편집] Scope and Goals

(Please note that this document is a work in progress -- feel free to edit it as you see fit.)

This WikiProject aims primarily to coordinate the efforts of Wikipedians who are knowledgeable about philosophy in an effort to improve the general quality and range of Wikipedia articles on philosophical topics.

Because many philosophical topics are extremely nebulous, it often requires a firm grasp of the field to be able to produce a fair and comprehensive article. We therefore don't have the advantage afforded to Wikihistorians, who can simply look their topic up in a reference guide -- heck, half the time our reference guides flat-out contradict each other. For this reason, we need to pool our efforts -- work with those who specialize in a different subfield, ask each other to check our reasoning, etc. Let's put it this way -- do you think you understand everything there is to say about qualia? Well, neither do I, but maybe together we can get it straight.

틀:PhilosophyTasks

The goals of this WikiProject are as follows:

  1. To serve as a nexus and discussion area for philosophically-inclined contributors.
  2. To identify those areas of philosophy which lack sufficient coverage on the 'pedia.
  3. To improve those articles which need help.
  4. To create a general map of the philosophical articles and subjects on the 'pedia, and link the articles together accordingly.

[편집] How you can help

  1. Locate pages that need attention, then add them to the tasks list or the Open Tasks list.
  2. Add the Open Tasks box to your User: or User_talk: page. (Add {{PhilosophyTasks}} anywhere on the page.)
  3. Add this page or the Open Tasks list to your watchlist, and keep up with what needs doing.
  4. Complete open tasks and check them off the list.
  5. Discuss what else we can do!

You can also add yourself to the list of participants below. Thanks for helping out!

[편집] Standards and practices

In addition to the standards held for all Wikipedia articles, we would like to make more thorough and rigorous requirements for philosophy articles. One of the primary reasons for this is the high standards philosophy itself is expected to meet. This section will contain those expectations for philosophy articles that go above and beyond those of Wikipedia, and those existing Wikipedia standards that are especially pertinent to philosophy articles. Note that new standards should be voted on before being added here (votes can be taken on the discussion page).

  • Requirements for criticisms in philosophy articles: the general rule for "Criticisms" sections in philosophy articles is, "if you can't (or don't want to) attribute a criticism of a philosophy to a specific person or group, or aren't able to reference it to a book, don't write it".
  • Avoid weasel terms.
  • Cite sources. This is so important in all articles (Wikipedia is often dramatically lacking in references), and especially in philosophy articles, where source texts are the only way to really understand and work through a philosopher's arguments.

[편집] Open Tasks

When adding a task, please follow the current format, including space for volunteer signup and timestamping the addition. If any additional information is needed, please include it in the entry, but try to keep more extensive discussion on the talk pages. If you want, you can also add the task to the Philosophy Tasks box. After a task is completed, please remove it from both lists. If you feel the content is worth saving, it can be archived here.

Some old open tasks have been archived here. It contains requests for fixups made in 2004, but have not been completed.

[편집] Short Term Tasks

Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/1755 Lisbon earthquake needs more work on the philosophical interpretations and repercussions of the event.

[편집] Mid-Range Tasks

  • Someone might want to expand the newly added Vilém Flusser.
  • Please help to make the List of publications in philosophy less than woefully incomplete. --Kzollman 04:51, May 27, 2005 (UTC)

[편집] Long Term Tasks

[편집] Custom Templates and Task Box

{{PhilosophyTasks}} will add the open tasks list to a page. To add the pretty boxed version seen above, use {{PhilosophyTasksBox}} instead. (Note: Both are case-sensitive.)

This list will be regularly updated by volunteers with pages that need attention. If you find such a page, feel free to edit Template:PhilosophyTasks to add it to the list. If you wish to place the box on your own User or User_talk page, it would be much appreciated. (Keep in mind that the box is currently auto-justified to the right.)

Putting {{philosophy}} at the top of a page will add this notice to it: 틀:Philosophy This message should be placed on talk pages of relevant articles. Such articles might include:

  1. An article that members of the WikiProject are actively trying to improve.
  2. An article about a major philosophical topic.
  3. An article that needs special attention. (In this case, you should also link to it on this page or the open philosophy tasks box.
