Teflon adalah nama merk dari sebuah compound polimer yang ditemukan oleh Roy J. Plunkett (1910–1994) di DuPont pada 1938 dan diperkenalkan sebagai produk komersial pada 1946. Dia merupakan sebuah fluoropolimer thermoplastik.

Teflon adalah polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), sebuah polimer ethylene fluorine.

Teflon is also used as the trade name for a polymer with similar properties, perfluoroalkoxy polymer resin (PFA):

PTFE memiliki koefisien gesek terendah dari bahan padat yang dikenal. Dia digunakan sebagai pelapis tidak-lengket untuk panci dan peralatan masak lainnya. PTFE sangat tidak-reaktif, dan sering digunakan dalam wadah dan pipa untuk bahan kimia yang reaktif. Titik lelehnya bervariasi antara 260 °C (FEP) dan 327 °C (PTFE), tergantung dari polimer Teflon tertentu.

Gore-Tex adalah sebuah bahan yang menggunakan membran teflon dengan pori-pori mikro.
