Sierra Entertainment (aikaisemmin Sierra On-line) oli vuodesta 1980 vuoteen 2004 asti toiminut tietokonepelien suunnitteluun ja tekoon erikoistunut yritys. Yritys tuli kuuluisaksi etenkin seikkailupeleillään, joista monet saivat lukuisia jatko-osia. Vuonna 2004 Sierra Entertainment lopetti toimintansa ja Sierrasta tuli osa Vivendi Universalin brändiä.

Vuonna 1980 Ken ja hänen vaimonsa Roberta Williams perustivat Sierra On-line Systemsin, ja aloittivat pelien tuottamisen omassa kodissaan. Samana vuonna valmistui Sierran ensimmäinen peli, Apple II:lle tehty Mystery House. Vuonna 1982 yritys muutti Oakhurstiin Kaliforniaan ja vaihtoi nimeksi Sierra On-line.

Vuonna 1984 Sierra julkaisi Roberta Williamsin suunnitteleman King's Quest pelisarjan ensimmäisen osan IBM:lle, ja pelistä tuli yksi Sierran kaikkien aikojen menestyneimmistä. Menestyksen innoittamana Sierra julkaisi useita eri Quest-pelejä, joista osasta tuli menestyksiä vaikka jotkut myös epäonnistuivat. Onnistuneisiin peleihin kuuluivat esimerkiksi Space Questit, Police Questit ja Leisure Suit Larryt, joista kaikista tuli aikansa tunnetuimpia tietokonepelejä. Tuohon aikaan Sierra ilmoitti pahimmaksi vastustajakseen television, ja tehtäväkseen estää nuorisosta tulemasta "sohvaperunoita".

Vuodesta 1990 alkaen Sierra aloitti alan yritysten ostamisen: Dynamix (1990), Bright Star Technologies (1992), Coktel Vision (1993) ja Impressions Games (1995). Myöhemmin Sierra osti myös Green Thumb Softwaren (1995), Arion Softwaren (1995), Papyrus Design Groupin (1995), Berkeley Systemsin (1997), Books That Workin (1997), PyroTechnixin (1997) ja Headgaten (1997).

Vuonna 1991 Sierra julkaisi The Sierra Networksin, eräänlaisen esi-WWW-järjestelmän jonka alla käyttäjät pystyivät liikkumaan graafisessa ympäristössä eri teemojen alla, lähettämään viestejä keskustelualueille sekä paljon muuta. Vuonna 1994 järjestelmä nimettiin ImagiNation Networkiksi ja myytiin AT&T:lle, joka taas myi järjestelmän vuonna 1996 AOLille.

Vuonna 1994 Sierra muutti uuteen pääkonttoriin Bellevueen Washingtoniin.

Heinäkuussa 1996 yritys myytiin CUC Internationalille, ja vuosi tämän jälkeen Ken Williams jätti Sierran. Huhtikuussa 1998 ilmaantuneiden taloussotkujen vuoksi Sierra ja yrityksen muut pelistudiot, mukaan lukien Blizzard Entertainment myytiin ranskalaiselle julkaisijalle, Havakselle, jonka Vivendi myöhemmin hankki.

Vuonna 1998 Sierra jaettiin viiteen erilaiseen yksikköön:

1. Sierra Attractions – Tämä yksikkö tuotti pelejä kuten Hoyle, You Don't Know Jack sekä muita.
2. Sierra Home – Tämä yksikkö julkaisi käyttäjäystävällisiä ohjelmistoja kuten Print Artist, Hallmark Card Studios, MasterCook series ja niin edelleen.
3. Sierra Sports – Tämä yksikkö julkaisi urheilupelejä.
4. Sierra Studios – Tämä yksikkö julkaisi isot pelit kuten King's Quest sekä kaikki Sierran pelit.
5. Dynamix – Sama yritys jonka Sierra osti vuonna 1990, erikoistui 3D taistelusimulaattoreihin kuten Red Baron, Starsiege ja Pro Pilot.

Yritys nimettiin Sierra Entertainmentiksi vuonna 2002.

Heinäkuussa 2004 Vivendi uudelleenorganisoi yritystä ja poisti Sierran kokonaan käytöstä.
